Olympic College is continuously seeking skilled Basic Studies adjunct faculty to fill positions within the Integrated Basic Education & Skills Training (I-BEST) Adjunct Faculty. Our identified I-BEST programs are designed to be team‑taught by professional technical and basic skills facilities. I‑BEST faculty are responsible for team‑taught instruction. Classes are comprised of students that come from diverse educational, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds;

therefore, faculty must be prepared to teach college readiness skills to all I‑BEST students. This position will report to the Associate Dean of Basic Studies/Adult Education and is part of the Workforce Development Division. The work may vary between the Bremerton, Shelton, or Poulsbo Campuses.

Essential Functions
  • Team‑teach with a group of professional‑technical instructors in one of the following areas with an I‑BEST classroom and laboratory settings (e.g., Manufacturing, Nursing Assistant Certified, Computer Information Systems, Business Technology) that supports students in math and basic skill areas as needed.
  • Administer Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) Appraisals, Pre‑tests, and Post‑tests, and collect, submit, and analyze data for program reporting in Web‑based Adult Basic Education Reporting System (WABERS).
  • Collaborate with other instructors in developing courses and curricula.
  • Manage record keeping complying with federal and state requirements.
  • Consult with students as needed and assist all students in setting, documenting and monitoring progress toward meaningful personal and educational goals.
  • Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading.
  • Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested.
  • Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms as required.
  • May require evening instruction.
  • Attend quarterly or more frequently, Basic Studies meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in adult / developmental education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field.
  • Two years Full‑Time Equivalent (FTE) experience teaching adults.
  • Basic Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Applications.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited College or University in adult / developmental education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics.
  • Two years Full‑Time Equivalent (FTE) teaching experience in a community college setting.
  • Experience implementing Basic Skills requirements of the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, e.g., Washington Adult Learning Standards, CCRS familiarity.

  • Possess excellent customer service skills, including building and maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, vision, and values.
  • Demonstrate ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgment.
