Description Nursing Assistant Adjunct Faculty Salary: $1,000 per credit

Reports to:

Nursing Assistant Program Director. The base salary for Nursing Assistant Adjunct Faculty will include an additional nurse educator salary enhancement to meet industry standards according to the current Association of Higher Education Collective Bargaining Agreement and Memorandums of Understanding.

Olympic College is continuously recruiting part-time Nursing Assistant Faculty members to join the faculty and staff team in the Healthcare Division. The Nursing Assistant Faculty is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, curriculum development, and academic leadership within the Nursing Assistant Program. This position involves teaching didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses, contributing to program assessment and accreditation (Washington Board of Nursing) efforts, and engaging in department, division, and college activities to support student success and professional growth.

Essential

Functions
  • Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping.
  • Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities.
  • Prepare and teach didactic, lab, and clinical nursing assistant content across the lifespan, reflective of the philosophy and conceptual framework of the nursing programs.
  • Prepare all classroom materials based on the approved course outlines, syllabi, and adult learning theory.
  • Utilize learning management systems and technology to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes diversity, equity, and student success.
  • Supervise students in clinical settings, ensuring the application of theoretical knowledge to nursing procedures.
  • Conduct student assessments using a variety of instructional methodologies and evaluation tools to measure learning outcomes.
  • Document students’ progress; determine, in collaboration with the student, a plan for achieving success.
  • Perform the duties of approved Registered Nurse Evaluator for the WA State Skills Exam.
  • Attend faculty, department, and division meetings and serve on college committees.
  • Participate in course evaluation, identifying strengths and areas for development.
  • Collaborate promptly with the Associate Dean regarding student and/or course issues.
  • Keep current in program policy, guidelines, and procedure changes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare partners, clinical affiliates, and faculty to maintain and expand clinical education opportunities.
  • Engage in punctual communication with students, faculty, staff, clinical partners, and administrators.
  • Maintain expertise in the field by engaging in ongoing professional development and scholarly activities.
  • Contribute to the annual assessment of student learning and program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the Associate Dean in the maintenance of program approval status for the Washington Board of Nursing (WABON) and current standards of nursing education; and
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited College or University.
  • Current, unencumbered, RN license in WA state or ability to obtain WA RN licensure before employment.
  • Meet minimum work experience of one year of verifiable paid or unpaid work experience as a licensed nurse within the past three years in caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any age.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Experience with supervision of nursing assistants.
  • Ability to connect and build relationships with students and colleagues from various ethnicities, ages, backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities.
  • Computer competency to include Microsoft Office Suites applications.
  • The physical endurance and ability to work in a clinical setting with students for 8-12 hours.
