DSHS Supported Employment – Office Assistant 1

This position is part of the Supported Employment in State Government (SESG) Program. The selected candidate must be eligible for SESG and meet the required qualifications.

We are looking for an Office Assistant 1 to support the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) Bremerton office. In this role you will assist Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors, Rehabilitation Technicians, and the Supervisor by keeping daily operations running smoothly so staff can focus on delivering direct services. Your duties include answering phones, greeting visitors, managing digital filing systems, data entry, and other office support tasks.

Your work helps create an organized, welcoming, and efficient environment that strengthens the team’s ability to serve the community effectively.

Some of what you'll do:
  • Scan, photocopy, and collate materials to support daily office operations.
  • Open, date‑stamp, sort, route, and prepare incoming and outgoing mail while maintaining basic logs and records.
  • Scan and index documents into the electronic filing system to ensure accurate and accessible digital records.
  • Answer telephones, respond to routine questions using established guidelines, and receive and direct visitors.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail, messages, records, office supplies, and other materials throughout the office.
  • Enter and retrieve data in electronic systems, generate documents and correspondence, communicate through email and Teams, and update computer files.

Who should apply:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Eligibility for the SESG Program.
To be eligible for the Supported Employment in State Government (SESG) Program you must:
  • Have a developmental disability as defined in RCW 71A.10.020; or
  • Experience a significant disability that seriously limits one or more functional capacities. For more information please visit the Federal VR Eligibility Regulations.
  • Documentation of the above will be required if selected for an interview. This may include documents such as a written statement from a Doctor, Physician’s Assistant, or Therapist, records from a School Counselor or Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, or records from a similar program that identifies your disability. Written statements from family members, friends, or former employers/co‑workers will not be accepted.
  • You require supported employment on‑the‑job training and long‑term support to satisfactorily perform job duties, AND
  • You will provide an ongoing source of long‑term support to perform the duties of this job.
