. The HVAC 2 performs engineering duties in accordance with hospital policy and procedure. This position is to be proficient in all areas of HVAC-R maintenance and installation, including air conditioning (split, package, VAV and central air handling units), heating (hot water boilers, steam boilers, hot water converters, electric and heat pumps), chill water systems (centrifugal chillers, cooling towers), ice machines (cubers & flakers), refrigeration (refrigerators & walk-in coolers), and associated controls (pneumatics, pressure, temperature, volume and electrical).
Proficiency in soldering and brazing is required. Responsibilities include steam, water, control air and refrigerant piping, and all kinds of duct work installation and repair (round, square, insulated, supply and exhaust). Perform test and balance on air conditioning systems (air volumes in and out). Additional duties include routine tests such as fire alarm, sprinkler drop tests, Emergency generator load test, emergency battery lighting test, line isolation test, and new equipment inspections.
Other tasks require knowledge in plumbing, electrical and building maintenance.
- Maintain and install HVAC-R systems and components (air conditioning, heating, chillers, ice machines, refrigeration) and associated controls.
- Perform steam, water, control air and refrigerant piping; install and repair ductwork (round, square, insulated, supply and exhaust).
- Conduct test and balance (air volumes in and out) on HVAC systems.
- Perform routine field tests and inspections: fire alarm and sprinkler drop tests, emergency generator load test, emergency battery lighting test, line isolation test, and new equipment inspections.
- Collaborate with other trades (plumbing, electrical, building maintenance) as needed.
High School Diploma or GED
ExperienceFive years of related experience. Requires broad knowledge of complex systems and procedures.
Licenses & Certifications- Driver's License
- Refrigerant Trans. Rec. Cert.
- Minimum 5 years of HVAC-R maintenance and installation, or three years mechanical and building maintenance and certifications in Air Conditioning Technology.
- Must be legally able to drive in the State of Georgia. Subject to a motor vehicle driving record review.
- Read — Ability to read safety rules instructions in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment; ability to read and interpret written instructions (Work Orders).
- Speak — Ability to speak clearly and distinctly primarily to convey problems and work status to others.
- Write — Ability to summarize work progress in work order form; write for content more important than grammatical correctness.
