Below are the primary duties and essential functions of an employee in this position. While not all tasks may be performed by every employee in this role, all employees are expected to perform related tasks as needed. These essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Assist physician/nurse practitioner with various clinic duties as assigned, including answering phone calls, assembling medication education materials, and managing the referral process.
- Obtain and enter vital signs and other clinical data in patient record with complete accuracy.
- Prepare patient charts/information for medical appointments to ensure accurate and comprehensive charting.
- Track and coordinate data pertinent to patients' care (ie. Medication assistance and sample medications, drug utilization evaluations, etc.).
- Complete prior authorizations for medications and referrals as needed.
- Continue to further education by attending continuing education and training courses for continued certification.
- Review all outpatient medication storage and administration locations for monthly pharmacy review requirements.
- Use standard precautions and OSHA guidelines in the disposal of medical waste.
- Track and log equipment maintenance documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Occupational Exposure Risk Classification:
The normal work routine involves minimal exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. - The normal work routine has a minimal ergonomic risk for repetitive motion impairment.
- The position may require a minimal amount of physical exertion (bending, lifting, twisting) in the work area.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a medical office setting. - Certificate or Professional License:
Certification in Medical Assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). - Valid driver’s license and active auto insurance coverage.
- Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks.
