Job Description JOURNAL PUBLISHING is a world leader in the management and distribution of print and related offerings. We are seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician for our BREESE, IL location. The ideal candidate is a team-oriented individual with a High School Diploma or equivalent, prior experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial production environment, and the ability to learn and apply information quickly.
The maintenance team is responsible for overall maintenance, troubleshooting, cleaning, and repair of facility, grounds, machinery, and equipment.
- 7 years of demonstrated mechanical experience or previous printing experience.
- High degree of mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems, read technical diagrams and operating manuals.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Ability to learn and apply information quickly.
- Versatility and ability to shift quickly from one duty to another.
- Team orientation – willing to work for the good of the total team.
- Diagnose and remedy mechanical trouble to determine repairs, tear down, repair and fabricate as needed.
- Repairs, installs, adjusts, modifies and services all types of electrical equipment, plant instrumentation and relays; layout and perform machining operations or replacement parts.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems, read ladder logic and program PLCs.
- Install, maintain, operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, drills, millers, grinders, etc.
- Perform preventive maintenance functions as outlined by equipment manufacturer's manual and/or as dictated by trade standards.
- Normal, no adverse or hazardous conditions.
- Warehouse and plant exposure to dust, noise and fumes.
- Close tolerance strength such as disassembly of motors for repairs.
- Good vision (correctable to 20/20), hand/eye coordination, color code distinction.
- Ability to perform repairs in tight physical locations.
- Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate emergency situations.
- Ability to work at heights on temporary scaffolding/ladders.
- Walking and standing 100% on concrete flooring.
- Position requires grasping and utilizing manual dexterity including hand/finger coordination and the utilization of color vision.
- The employee exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals and heat.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Ability to use computer and calculator.
- Ability to sit (5%), stand (55%), walk (20%), kneel/squat (10%) and bend (10%) for eight hours. Exposure to heat and cold dependent on outside temperatures.
