Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity based in the Solent, delivering Fostering, Education, Residential and Family services and cares for over 400 children, families, young people and vulnerable adults each year.

Where and when do we need you?

We are currently recruiting for a reliable, conscientious, and enthusiastic maintenance operative that can carry out a range of general maintenance repairs. Fair Ways have a number of different services throughout Wales, Bath, Bristol and the Solent that support the fantastic work that our charity undertakes and to maintain each of our properties there are a team of fantastic maintenance professionals ensuring their continuous upkeep and safe running.

This role will be predominantly based covering our properties in the Wales, Bath and Bristol areas.

As a maintenance operative, you will be involved exciting and rewarding things like:

  • Using your existing skills to make a meaningful difference – All Fair Ways services require well maintained and highly functional properties. These properties play a huge part in ensuring we can deliver much needed services in order to keep our families, children and young people safe. Without the consistent hard work and upkeep that our maintenance team deliver, it would not be possible to deliver the high standards of care we are so passionate about.
  • Being part of a fantastic team! - You will plan and undertake maintenance jobs effectively, meeting deadlines, communicating clearly with your team, providing progress reports and updates as required.
  • Working safely - Ensuring all work is carried out safely with the monitoring of good, safe working practice whilst adhering to all Health and Safety policies ensuring all risk assessments are followed and adhered to, to keep yourself and other safe from harm.
  • Working smartly
    - Ensuring the removal and disposal of all debris and waste from all jobs leaving all sites tidy and clean whilst guaranteeing strict waste management procedures are adhered to, that all ordering of materials is communicated and signed off appropriately, to adhere to the Permanent Loan Record (PLR) for all Fair Ways tools, implementing regular checks to maintain good working order/repair, also the correct/safe usage, ensuring all tools are accounted for and not left unsupervised.
  • Working in a trauma informed environment - Playing your part in growing a compassionate, resilient and trauma informed community that embraces learning, so that we improve the lives and outcomes of every individual. It is important to highlight that the majority of works undertaken will be within our frontline services so it is key to ensure a good understanding and knowledge of what our services deliver prior to application – you can find full details of our amazing charity and all of its fantastic work on our website.

This role is offered on a 37.5 hour per week basis, working Monday to Friday. All candidates must have a full driving license as the role will require travel between sites. The successful candidate will be provided with a vehicle, tools and uniform and a will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.

Fair Ways are unable to provide VISA sponsorship for this role and all applicants will need to be able to provide evidence of right to work in the UK.
