Position: Salaried GP

Our Practice is based in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, offering outstanding opportunities for walking, running,cycling and a host of other outdoor activities. Our main surgery is beside theUsk River in the pleasant market town of Brecon.

We enjoy providing care to arural and agricultural population within the scenic mountains of the Brecon Beacons. We are centrally located, with excellent main road access, which meansit is just a one-hour drive to Cardiff, Newport, Swansea and Hereford.

We are seeking aSalaried GP to join our team for up to eight sessions per week. We are looking for an enthusiastic GP who would enjoy the variety of work offered within the practice and the community. There is opportunity if desired to develop special interests through our supplementary services.

Main duties of the job

We operate a system oftotal triage. A telephone list of calls to triage with the facility forface-to-face appointments provide the flexibility for you to manage yourworking day as you consider necessary. There are no home visits at the end ofclinics: our home visits are undertaken by the GP working within our Enhanced Community Care Teams each day. The Salaried GP would have the option to participate in the home-visit day, which provides an excellent opportunity towork more closely with the various members of our multi-disciplinary team, andenjoy the excitement and challenges of remote and rural medicine in a beautifullandscape.

Similarly, the salaried GP would have the option to participate inthe clinical care of patients in our local community hospital.

About us

We are a dispensing practice in the market towns of Brecon and Sennybridge. We deliver GMS and enhanced services to approximately 15,500 patients.

We believe in developing our own practice team as well as providing education and training to registrarsand medical students throughout the year, working closely with Cardiff and Swansea Universities. To this end, additional to the salary we also offer a £500 study budget to support you in any educational development that you wishto undertake.

Our teamwork-based approach enables us to provide the highest quality of care, and an enjoyable,supportive working environment. Partners and Salaried GPs meet regularly toreview, discuss and learn from the expertise and experience of others for complex clinical decisions.

Our clinical team is supported by a Practice Nurse Team and a Physicians Assistant. We also have direct access for medicines management support through a community interest company Red Kite Solutions. We are a training practice with three GP trainersand enjoy the regular presence of registrars, Foundation Doctors and medical students from Swansea and Cardiff.

We are committed toworkflow optimisation and the reduction of GP administration workload.

Competitive Salary £12,814per session per annum, (subject to annual pay review). £500 study budget and seven weeks annual leave per annum.

  • Full GMC registration.
  • All Wales Medical Performers List & All Wales Locum Register (Wales).
  • Appropriate Defence Indemnity (MPS/MDU).
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently.
  • Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced clinician.
