As a R&D Lab Technician, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, operating high‑tech equipment, running experiments, and working side‑by‑side with scientists and engineers to troubleshoot issues, improve processes, and keep everything running smoothly. You’ll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life. In this role, you will:
- Deliver accurate and timely laboratory results while demonstrating Lubrizol Cultural Beliefs and ensuring safe working conditions.
- Conduct experiments according to defined operating procedures, including operation of Henschel mixers, 2‑roll mill, pipe extrusion, pipe fitting injection molding, and compression molding machines.
- Continuously improve work practices and procedures to enhance safety, efficiency, and quality of testing.
- Recognize validity of test data, evaluate data to ensure accuracy prior to communicating results, and notify manager regarding non‑conformances.
- Document test data in Excel and Lubrizol’s internal software systems.
- Articulate and communicate lab results to scientists, managers, and business partners with timely status updates.
- Assemble, prepare, and maintain extrusion, injection molding, and other test equipment.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on equipment as defined in SOPs.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least one year of experience in an R&D lab, manufacturing, or similar industrial/academic setting.
- Working knowledge of plastics extrusion and/or injection molding required.
- Strong observational and record‑keeping skills.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate results and identify root causes.
- Working knowledge of core mathematical/statistical concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Degree or professional certification in polymer science/processing or another science‑related field.
- Experience in plastic or rubber manufacturing and/or testing.
- Forklift driving
