BOI/CID – Asset Forfeiture Program
The Asset Forfeiture Program is a statewide program developed to administer the disposition of forfeiture petitions and manage the storage, maintenance, liquidation, and distribution of assets seized by, and forfeited to, the Louisiana State Police. The Program provides assistance to all divisions and units of the Department in the seizure of large amounts of U.S. currency, vehicles, and other assets identified as used in narcotics crimes, illegal gambling, sex crimes, or as fruits of those crimes.
The Program follows up and processes all Department seizure cases through the court system in cooperation with Louisiana Parish District Attorney’s Offices and United States Attorney’s Offices. The Program is organized within the Department’s Bureau of Investigation and administered by the Asset Forfeiture Program Supervisor, who reports to the Commander of the LSP Region 2 Criminal Investigations Division (State Police Captain).
- Serve as the Department’s management and oversight liaison to ensure the incorporation of Federal and State Asset Forfeiture laws through collaboration with the Louisiana District Attorneys and United States Attorneys. Brief LSP Senior Command on issues with significant ramifications, including balances of forfeiture accounts (ranging from thousands to over one million dollars), spending trends, and usage limitations of forfeited assets retained by the Department.
- Maintain and oversee business relationships between internal and external entities. Serve as the liaison for Asset Forfeiture for the Department.
- Act as the LSP liaison to Operational Development in establishing, implementing, and revising Asset Forfeiture Program standards, guidelines, and policies for the Criminal Investigation Administrative Rules and Regulations (901). Represent LSP with Op Dev on Asset Forfeiture matters before the Legislature.
- Participate in and respond to audits of the Asset Forfeiture Program and its records. Coordinate responses and reports to auditors and gain access to files and seized assets across divisions, Federal entities, and State entities; monitor compliance within program guidelines.
- Provide ongoing consultation to command, professional, and support staff on Asset Forfeiture issues.
- Prepare and present Asset Forfeiture training and/or presentation materials for supervisors and agents across CID, SID, and GAM, and for Louisiana Parish District Attorney Officials. Serve as the statewide Asset Forfeiture liaison at training events, work groups, councils, and coalitions. Act as liaison among CID, SID, GAM Divisions, and other agencies; analyze the impact of Federal and State legislation on training needs.

Appointment Type – Promotional opportunity for current, permanent DPS/LSP employees;
Career Progression – This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group;
Compensation – Salary determined by qualifications and experience.
- Four years of experience in administrative services; OR
- Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in administrative services; OR
- A bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in administrative services; OR
- An advanced degree.
Experience Substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field.
