Program Overview

We are looking to develop the next generation of retail leadership at Sprouts Farmers Market – a Fortune 500 company and one of the fastest growing retailers in the United States. This program will focus on the development of Assistant Store Managers (ASM), who are key in assisting with the efficient and profitable operations of the store. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager assumes complete responsibility for all phases of store operations.

June 2026

Hiring locations: California, Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, Maryland, & Tennessee (actual store locations to be determined)

Eligibility: Graduating within 6 months of a full-time bachelor’s or master’s degree program (December 2025 – May 2026)

Onboarding process: 10 weeks of in‑store leadership and department‑specific training followed by 10 weeks of on‑the‑job shadowing.

Visa sponsorship: Not available.

Overview of Responsibilities

The Assistant Store Manager must be familiar with all departments and department‑related activities throughout the store, and assists the Store Manager in ensuring cleanliness, safety and a well‑stocked inventory. The ASM also assists with forecasts, schedules, and monitors labor to be consistent with store sales and productivity guidelines and wage budgets; and creates action plans to address cost‑control issues. This position directs, oversees, and evaluates the training of all perishable department Team Members to reduce and control turnover, promote more efficient operations, and provide better control over labor costs.

Developing and maintaining communication with other departments and the Store Manager is key to executing merchandising plans that help meet the financial objectives of the store.

Qualifications
  • Obtain or be in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree (target December 2025–May 2026 graduates)
  • Retail experience or project exposure to the retail industry
  • Dependable and reliable, able to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends, holidays and flexible store assignments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to give direction while participating in a team environment
  • Outgoing, friendly behavior with a positive attitude, able to interact with customers in an engaging manner
  • Ability to manage department staff: interviewing, hiring, training and development, delivering on‑time performance appraisals, providing feedback, scheduling, counseling, and terminating
  • Proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff, with knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers and financial goals
  • Strong focus on detail, analytical and problem‑solving skills; coordinate sales promotion activities and prepare/supervise merchandise displays and advertising copy
  • Responsible for compliance ensuring dates on merchandise are checked and expired food is pulled off shelves per Sprouts procedures
  • Ability to handle emergencies, crises, and write reports for accidents or incidents per company procedures
  • Food Safety certification, ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations for labor, health, safety, and sanitation, meeting OSHA and other regulatory standards
  • Strong organization and planning skills for prioritizing and handling multiple tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lb., bend, reach, kneel, squat and stand for long periods
