General PurposeThe Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets and serves customers, respects fellow associates, follows company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation.
Essential Functions- Practice safe behaviors and keep the sales floor safe and clutter‑free.
- Greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and friendly greetings.
- Assist customers at registers, with merchandise, and answer questions politely.
- Provide prompt responses to customer service calls and resolve issues courteously.
- Represent and support the Ross brand consistently.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping, restroom maintenance).
- Maintain a professional appearance and dress code.
- Clean and organize the store, ensuring neat, well‑stocked presentation.
- Expedite merchandise receipts onto the sales floor with urgency.
- Understand loss‑prevention programs and Merchandising processes.
- Safeguard confidential, cash, and credit card information.
- Follow Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock and cash handling policies.
- Execute store best practices to maximize productivity with efficiency.

- Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations used in retail.
- Use store equipment, registers, PC, and PDTs.
- Spend up to 100% standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
- Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00, dependent on experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package.
