Manufacturing Engineer – Aerospace

Location: Brea, CA

Industry: Aerospace Manufacturing

About the Company

A leading aerospace manufacturer specializing in precision-engineered fasteners and metal components is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with aerospace or relevant metal forming experience. This company operates with cutting-edge manufacturing processes, including Hot & Cold Heading, Nut Forming, Screw Machining, Sheet Metal Nuts and Baskets, Tapping, Crimping, Machining, Threading, Grinding, Assembly, Heat Treating, and Plating.

This is an onsite leadership role with a focus on shop floor planning, process optimization, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate has experience leading planners, driving improvements in scheduling, and managing plant operations in a $150M+ revenue manufacturing environment.

The Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will oversee production planning, enhance process efficiencies, and lead a team of planners to meet operational goals. You will work hands-on with the shop floor team and collaborate with engineering and supply chain teams to optimize production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing Process Oversight:
  • Lead and optimize metal forming manufacturing processes (hot & cold heading, nut forming, machining, grinding, threading, and assembly).
  • Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement strategies to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
  • Identify and execute process improvements for quality, cost, and production speed.
  • Shop Floor & Plant Operations Leadership:
  • Direct shop floor planning and scheduling to align with production goals.
  • Manage daily plant operations, ensuring streamlined execution of manufacturing workflows.
  • Be an onsite leader 5+ days per week, setting expectations for a team where many direct reports work 6 days a week.
  • Mentor and coach planners on best practices in scheduling and materials planning (this is not a procurement role).
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration between manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams.
  • Oversee staffing, training, and leadership development for direct reports in plant operations.
  • Supply Chain & Scheduling Improvement:
  • Lead Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) implementation to improve forecasting and production efficiency.
  • Drive master scheduling improvements to optimize material flow and reduce downtime.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to enhance inventory and production management.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or Supply Chain Management with strong Manufacturing process experience, ideally in aerospace or precision metal forming.
  • Strong leadership experience—must have prior experience coaching and mentoring planners.
  • Shop floor planning experience and direct plant operations exposure.
  • Experience managing $150M+ revenue operations with direct reports.
  • SIOP implementation experience and a track record of improving scheduling processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to be onsite 5+ days a week, leading a hands-on operational team.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and tuition reimbursement.
  • Career growth opportunities within a confidential aerospace manufacturer.
  • Innovative environment leveraging advanced manufacturing technologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Be part of a high-impact leadership team driving operational excellence.
