Staff Civil Engineer | Contract-to-Hire | Brea, CA
We’re hiring a Staff Civil Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting complex infrastructure and facility projects across power, industrial, aviation, and government sectors.
This is a long-term 12-month contract-to-hire opportunity based in Brea, California — ideal for early-career engineers who want hands‑on design ownership and exposure to large‑scale EPC projects.
What You’ll DoYou’ll be involved throughout the full project lifecycle — from conceptual design through construction support.
- Develop civil engineering designs for new builds, upgrades, and redevelopments
- Prepare and modify construction drawings across multiple facility types
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and discipline engineers
- Adapt civil plans based on budget, constructability, and client requirements
- Perform site evaluations, field inspections, and data collection
- Prepare technical reports, studies, and engineering specifications
- Review shop drawings and support contract administration activities
- Participate in client presentations and design coordination meetings

Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited) + 3+ years experience
- OR
- Civil Engineering Technology Degree + FE/EIT + 3+ years experience
- OR
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering + 2+ years experience
- Consulting engineering experience preferred
- Experience with some of the following tools is highly preferred:
- Hydraulic / hydrologic / pavement analysis programs
- PLS‑CADD | RISA‑3D
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles & codes
- Analytical problem-solver with attention to detail
- Ability to work in collaborative project teams
- Effective written and verbal communication
- EIT certification preferred
