Summary
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for planning, sourcing, and purchasing all products within the assigned category(ies). They have end‑to‑end ownership of a category and work to drive GMV growth and margin while maintaining healthy margins.
Job Responsibilities Sourcing & Procurements- Generate purchase orders, follow up on POs, confirm status, and ensure daily delivery.
- Source and develop new vendors; craft negotiation strategies and terms on price, payment, lead time, and close deals with optimal terms.
- Source and develop new products in Asian Food segments based on customer demands, price, quality, availability, market trends, and team budgets.
- Develop, lead, optimize, and execute category sourcing and purchasing strategies.
- Use data and multiple‑dimensional metrics to improve KPIs for inventory level, allocation, turnover, and cash flow.
- Forecast price, analyze customer buying patterns & market trends to identify and optimise product assortment and pricing.
- Reflect business from the customer side and increase customer experience through everyday work.
- Communicate KPI results and root cause analysis with the management team, and lead corrective actions where performance lags.
- Maintain good vendor relationships and performance by deploying metrics (fill rate, lead time, OSHA compliance, etc.).
- Handle difficult price negotiations and tight deadlines confidently.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams on platform promotions, marketing allocation, markdowns, payment terms, and other special requests.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 1+ years of purchasing or vendor management experience in retail or related industries.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for foods/grocery/snack/drink products and understanding of respective customers.
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills in English; mastery of Chinese/Mandarin required.
- Analytical thinking, positive attitude, flexibility to accommodate evolving business needs.
- Excellent attention to detail; self‑starter capable of learning, growing, and adapting quickly.
- Decision‑making ability: assimilate information from internal & external sources to make sound, timely decisions.
