Stellenbeschreibung
Stellenbezeichnung: Postdoc (m/f/d) in Polymer Chemistry

With more than 15,000 students and 3,800 employees, the Technische Universität Braunschweig is one of Germany´s leading institutes of technology. It stands for strategic and performance-oriented thinking and acting, relevant research, committed teaching, and the successful transfer of knowledge and technologies to the economy and society. We consistently advocate for family friendliness and equal opportunities.

Our research focuses are mobility, engineering for health, metrology, and city of the future. Strong engineering and natural sciences are our core disciplines. These are closely interconnected with economics, social and educational sciences and humanities.

Our campus is located in the midst of one of the most research-intensive regions in Europe. We work successfully together with over 20 research institutions in our neighborhood as we do with our international partner universities.

Starting from April 1st 2026, the Institute of Sustainable Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry group is looking for a

Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/d) in the field of enzymatically controlled polymeric drug delivery systems (Polymer Chemistry)

(EG 13 TV-L, full-time)

The position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis for an initial period of 1 year. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity for further scientific qualification.

The Polymer Chemistry Group at the Institute for Sustainable Chemistry conducts application-oriented polymer research. To strengthen the work on a research project within the Collaborative Research Center SIIRI in the field of enzymatically controlled drug release systems, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher. Within the SIIRI research network (), fundamental mechanisms of implant complications across various medical disciplines are investigated to develop strategies for effective prevention.

This is possible due to close transdisciplinary cooperation between dentists, medical doctors, natural, social and engineering scientists from seven universities/institutes. The focus is on developing detection and reaction systems that can recognize incipient biological or technical complications early, and prevent or treat them through appropriate measures.

Your responsibilities
  • You will conduct research in the field of enzymatically triggered drug release for the prevention of implant complications as part of subproject B01 of the Collaborative Research Center TRR 298 “SIIRI.” In particular, you will synthesize and characterize polymers and apply them as coatings to model implants
  • You will publish research results in international journals and participate in national and international conferences
  • You will support university teaching (preparation and implementation of courses as well as supervision of student work).
Your qualifications
  • You have completed a doctorate in chemistry or a comparable subject
  • You have experience in chemical synthesis, particularly of complex polymers
  • Knowledge of biomedical applications of polymers is an advantage
  • You are flexible, resilient, and able to work well in a team
  • You are fluent in English.
We offer
  • Salary in accordance with pay scale 13 TV-L, depending on the tasks assigned and fulfillment of personal requirements
  • A special payment at the end of the year and a company pension scheme (VBL)
  • Advantage portal for employees of TU Braunschweig with attractive offers from strong brand
  • Work on exciting, future-oriented research topics in an inspiring work environment as part of the university community
  • Cutting-edge research in the field of implants from basic research to clinical application
  • A lively campus life in an international atmosphere with numerous intercultural offerings and international collaborations
  • Flexible working and part-time models and a family-friendly university culture, awarded the “Family-Friendly University” audit since 2007
  • Special training opportunities for young scientists, a postdoctoral program, and other opportunities offered by the Central Human Resources Development Department and the Collaborative Research Center.
