Recreation & Parks Program Coordinator

Description

Perform responsible work involving planning and supervision of recreation programs, activities, and special events in coordination with the Director and Assistant Director. Perform related work as required.

• Entry‑level recreational program position.
• Bachelor’s degree in recreation or a related field required. Significant recreation programming experience may substitute for a college degree.
• Valid driver’s license required.

• Assist with supervision/coordination of the summer day camp program, special activities, summer activities, Community Center activities, and youth sports leagues (schedules, uniforms, volunteer coaches).
• Communicate with administrative staff to coordinate weekly recreation schedules for the newspaper and radio stations.
• Work with the Recreation & Parks Director & Assistant Director to ensure coordination of recreation programs and activities.
• Attend meetings relative to the Recreation & Parks Department.
• Answer the telephone, greet the public, and respond to inquiries regarding programs and facility use.
• Utilize desktop publishing software to assist with marketing activities & programs (i.e. posters, flyers, brochures).
• Work within budget guidelines to purchase supplies, equipment and uniforms for programs.
• Recruit and train volunteer youth sports coaches and program instructors.
• Enforce department safety rules and regulations.
• Involved with hiring and training of seasonal staff.
• Will be required to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
