Assignment DurationThis is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule24-hour shifts, 2 shifts per week, 48 hours guaranteed. On-call duty for 4 hours, with a sleep room provided if woken between 1 AM - 5 AM.
Job DescriptionThe Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) will be responsible for assessing the respiratory status of individuals across all age groups, responding to emergencies, managing mechanical ventilation, and performing both invasive and noninvasive procedures. This role requires equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintaining the arterial blood gas system, along with patient transport. Clinical practice guidelines for respiratory care serve as the standard of care.
Responsibilities- Assess respiratory status of patients including neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Respond to emergencies and perform rapid responses in critical situations.
- Manage care for patients from various units including ER, Birthing Center, Surgical Unit, and PCU.
- Perform oxygen checks, nebulizer treatments, and manage conditions such as RSV, asthma, sleep apnea, and COPD.
- Independently perform arterial blood gas draws and ensure stable airway management for ventilated patients.
- Minimum of 12 months current RRT experience in a hospital setting.
- Ability to provide care for patients on a ventilator to maintain a stable airway.
- Comfortable working independently as the only RRT on duty.
- Ability to perform arterial blood gas draws.
- Ability to intubate independently is highly preferred.
- Active National Board for Respiratory Care Certification.
- Active American Heart Association ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications.
