• Conducting comprehensive assessments of respiratory status.
• Initiating and adjusting ventilator settings for both acute and stable patients.
• Performing airway clearance techniques, and delivering chest physiotherapy and inhaled therapies as prescribed.
• Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and therapy assistants to develop and implement care plans, documenting accurately in electronic medical records, and monitoring response to treatment with an eye toward timely weaning from ventilatory support when clinically appropriate.
• Participating in rounds, contributing to rounding discussions, educating patients and families about treatment plans, and serving as a resource for respiratory care best practices.
