Job Summary

The H&S Manager is a key player in shaping our safety first culture. The incumbent will directly impact the success of the site by leading all H&S programs and initiatives based on our A.C.E. principles of Accountability, Communication and Enforcement.

The H&S Manager will champion a culture of safety by providing guidance to the leadership team and employees through identifying and mitigating risks, driving continuous improvement, and leading projects and activities to achieve company goals & objectives. Scope of Responsibilities
  • Champion a proactive and collaborative H&S culture across the site.
  • Lead continuous improvement in all H&S programs, processes, and systems.
  • Develop and execute an annual safety plan that will produce results to minimize accidents and injuries, that includes:
    • KPI’s that are in alignment with corporate goals
    • An annual calendar of events that supports continuous learning and safety awareness
    • Communication strategy
  • Ensure ongoing program compliance with all Occupational Health & Safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Mentor, guide and oversee the performance of the H&S team.
  • Partner with the Operations team to conduct:
    • failure root cause analysis that identifies corrective actions that will ‘fix it forever’ for all recordable injuries
    • safety audits and hazard analysis
    • monthly safety communications
  • Ensure internal resources are available for training documents, SOP’s, workflows and systems that support a consistent approach across departments to all safety procedures.
  • Drive change management and training initiatives.
  • Plan, design, deliver and/or source training based on organizational needs.
  • Analyze data to make recommendations to senior leadership that will minimize incidents and injuries and improve the overall safety program.
  • As the safety expert, educate and advise the leadership team on best practices.
  • Design and implement a Wellness Program.
  • Manage regulatory and internal audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Oversight and submission of internal and external reports on safety performance.
  • Provide input on the H&S operating budget, including safety-related capital investments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on installations, process changes, and special projects.
  • Partner with Human Resources on processes related to employee onboarding, job accommodations and investigations.
What you will bring
  • Preferred candidates will have a degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and will be working towards the CRSP designation (Canadian Registered Safety Professional).
  • Post secondary education in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ of progressive experience in a H&S leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Deep understanding of ON occupational H&S legislation and regulatory frameworks, including WSIB claims management processes.
  • Project management skills with proven track record in creating, managing, and evolving comprehensive H&S programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills—able to engage employees at all levels and drive buy-in.
  • Collaborative team player with a solutions driven approach to resolving conflict.
  • Strategic thinker with hands‑on execution ability and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Highly analytical, with the ability to understand manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
