Engineering Manager

Through its divisions, WADE Tower and TACO Antenna, we deliver engineered infrastructure and mission-critical communication solutions to customers across defense, public safety, telecommunications, utilities, and industrial sectors.
TACO Antenna specializes in high-performance RF systems including VHF, UHF, SATCOM, air traffic control, and custom military-grade antenna solutions. WADE Tower designs and manufactures light, medium, and heavy-duty self-supporting and guyed towers for commercial and infrastructure applications.
Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced, hands-on Engineering Manager to lead and develop our engineering team in Brantford, ON.
This role is responsible for driving engineering performance, product development, process improvement, and technical compliance while aligning department objectives with company profitability and long-term growth. The Engineering Manager will lead resource planning, oversee R&D initiatives, support ISO programs, and strengthen collaboration between Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technicians
- Oversee R&D, product development, and process improvement initiatives
- Drive department performance through KPIs, resource planning, and cost control
- Support and spearhead ISO initiatives within the engineering function
- Review and approve drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (MIL-STD, RoHS, REACH, CSA, etc.)
- Improve manufacturing efficiency through automation, tooling, and best practices
- Collaborate with Sales to define product requirements from concept to release
- Establish engineering policies, procedures, and technical standards
- Prepare budgets, manage expenditures, and support gross profit objectives
- Lead Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), deviations, and controlled documentation processes
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives aligned with corporate strategy
- P.Eng. preferred (or equivalent professional certification)
- 10+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of RF engineering experience (mandatory)
- 5+ years of management/supervisory experience
- Strong understanding of structural analysis (moments, stress, loading)
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor (2D & 3D modeling)
- Knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14 standards
- Experience with ERP systems and MS Office Lean Manufacturing (Yellow/Green Belt considered an asset)
- Proven ability to lead projects, mentor teams, and deliver measurable results
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and implementation
$90,000 – $120,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
