LOCATION:
Initial Placement - Burford Customer Service Office and Paris Transfer Station Major Responsibilities:
Assist Operations staff in the day-to-day activities of Stormwater, Wastewater, Solid Waste and Municipal Drain operations.
Assist in the collection of data for sanitary, storm sewer and municipal drainage infrastructure from record drawings, field inspections, and field notes.
Collect, input, review, and maintain data in County databases.
Assist with environmental (ground water and surface water) sample collection.
Provide assistance with the Solid Waste program such as data input and review, and customer service at the Paris Transfer Station when open to the public.
Equipment and software student employee may be operating Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, & Power Point) County fleet vehicle (pickup truck) and traffic control devices Common hand tools (sledgehammer, pick, gas monitor) to access and document condition of storm/drain/sanitary infrastructure.
IPAD with Esri data collection tools will be used for inspections.
GIS Software (possibly some AutoCAD) GPS Survey equipment Environmental monitoring equipment and related supplies, and PPE Additional Information:
Ability to undertake extended periods at a computer.
Ability to undertake outdoor, physical work in uneven and steep terrain. Must have appropriate clothing (including CSA approved steel toe work boots) to work outdoors in all weather conditions, for extended periods (hot & cold weather).
Hi-vis vest and hard hat will be provided.
Good interpersonal skills.
Good communication and presentation skills.
Ability to maintain clear, accurate records of work undertaken.
Understanding of municipal infrastructure systems will be considered an asset.
Experience with environmental sample collection will be considered an asset Valid Ontario Driver’s License.
Provision and use of a reliable vehicle is required Must provide an acceptable Driver’s Abstract Duration:
May to August or May to December - 4 to 8 month Co-Op (35 hours/week) Hourly Rate: $22.54 (2025) Posting closes Monday February 02, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
Enrolled in a Civil Engineering or Environmental Technology program or related field You must be enrolled in a post-secondary Institution and returning to school in the fall in order to qualify for this position with the exception of completing a final co-op term.
