Building Maintenance
Position Summary: The Maintenance Assistant provides a variety of standard and unskilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of the grounds and facility.
Responsibilites:
1. Works closely with and follows directions from the maintenance director/supervisor.
2. Maintains the building and grounds in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
3. Maintains and repairs basic functions of the facility as determined by the maintenance director/supervisor.
4. Takes care of the tools and equipment.
5. Makes minor repairs on handrails, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, beds, wheelchairs, geri-chairs, electrical equipment, sprinkling systems, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms and extinguishers, changes filters on HVAC equipment, carries, lifts and stocks supplies.
6. Remains on call, when assigned, for 24 hours a day.
7. Assumes supervisor’s responsibilities in his/her absence.
8. Puts Customer Service First:
Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.
9. Performs other duties as requested.
Compliance:
1. Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, and procedures including but not limited to those within the Compliance and Ethics Program, Standard/Code of Conduct, Federal False Claims Act and HIPAA.
2. Participates in required orientation and training programs.
3. Promptly reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance to supervisor, Compliance Liaison or to the Compliance Officer via the Integrity Hotline.
4. Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.
5. Participates, as requested, in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
Education/Vocational Requirements:
1. High school degree or equivalent and basic knowledge of wiring, plumbing, and carpentry.
2. This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients and visitors at the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs.
