Wren Laboratories and its subsidiary Pure Diagnostics seek an onsite hands‑on Accountant to oversee accounting, budget governance, and financial reporting across both entities.
The Accountant will serve as financial gatekeeper, ensuring disciplined budget adherence, real‑time financial visibility, and executive‑level reporting to support growth and regulatory operations.
Core Responsibilities1. Multi‑Entity Financial Oversight
- Own accounting operations for Wren and Pure Diagnostics
- Oversee cash management, banking relationships, and short‑term liquidity planning for both entities.
- Maintain separate and consolidated financial visibility
- Manage intercompany accounting
- Ensure GAAP compliance
- Record expenses in real time against approved departmental budgets
- Maintain live tracking of budget utilization by function
- Provide weekly budget vs. actual reporting to CEO
- Proactively flag projected overruns and cash risk
- Prepare rolling cash flow forecasts and departmental spend projections to support executive planning
Provide weekly report including:
- Cash position (by entity)
- Paid vs. received summary
- AP aging
- AR aging
- Burn rate and runway projection
- Budget utilization by department
- Record revenues in real time
- Oversee billing and reimbursement accuracy
- Track collections and reimbursement cycles
- Approve Work Orders (WO) and expenditures up to $5,000 per transaction, provided funds are available within the approved departmental budget
- Verify budget availability prior to commitment
- Escalate to CEO for:
- Budget overruns
- Capital expenditures
- Unbudgeted spend
- Review and approve CEO and employee expense reports for accuracy, policy compliance, and budget alignment prior to reimbursement
- Check Signing & Disbursement Controls:
- The Accountant shall review and authorize all company disbursements and serve as primary signatory.
- All checks and electronic payments shall require CEO approval and co‑signature prior to release. CEO approval may be provided via secure remote electronic authorization or digital signature.
- No disbursement shall be issued without dual authorization from both the Accountant and the CEO.
- Maintain documentation trail for all approvals
- Own monthly close
- Review and reconcile all corporate credit card statements monthly to ensure accuracy, appropriate documentation, and compliance with company policy.
- Maintain inventory and fixed asset accounting
- Prepare all financial statements and supporting schedules required for annual federal and state tax filings for both entities.
- Serve as primary liaison with external CPA firm for preparation and filing of corporate tax returns.
- Review draft tax returns for accuracy and completeness prior to executive approval and filing.
- Ensure timely compliance with all federal, state, and local tax obligations.
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance
- 5-8+ years progressive accounting experience
- Budget tracking & executive reporting
