Overview
The ENTRY Phlebotomist I position is a 4+ month assignment located in Brandon, FL. The role combines front-desk patient interaction with initial phlebotomy training. The person serves as the face of the company to patients, greets them, answers questions with care and compassion, maintains lobby integrity, and assists with breaks when other phlebotomists are unavailable. The position offers training on Phlebotomy skills to grow within the company.
Under the direction of the area supervisor, the role performs daily activities accurately and on time, maintains a safe and professional environment, and keeps required records and documentation. The candidate should demonstrate organizational commitment, promote a positive image, and be willing to learn new skills.
Responsibilities- Greet patients upon arrival and assist with check-in in the lobby via self-service kiosk or handheld tablet.
- Provide courteous, confidential customer care and explain what to expect for scheduled procedures.
- Maintain a clean, orderly lobby and assist with breaks when other Phlebotomists are unavailable.
- Learn and perform phlebotomy skills as trained, including clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing following established practices and procedures.
- Maintain required records and documentation and ensure accuracy of patient information.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
- High level of customer service experience/skills is required.
- Ability to handle patients with care and compassion while assisting with check-ins.
- Willingness to learn Phlebotomy skills during downtime or when coverage is needed.
- Upon obtaining Phlebotomy skills, perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing as trained.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of client-facing customer service required (Retail, Home Health Aide, etc.). Prior Phlebotomy experience is NOT required.
- Keyboard/data entry experience required.
- This is an entry position into Phlebotomy; candidates must be willing to learn this skill. If a candidate only wants a front desk/greeter role and is not willing to learn Phlebotomy, please do not apply.
- Candidate must have reliable transportation to the worksite (bus or rideshare is not considered reliable).
- Must be available to work as scheduled, be on time, and stay for the entire shift. Excessive absenteeism/tardiness is not tolerated.
- Verify commute time to/from the physical work location; candidates should be within a 20-25 minute commute window.
- This is a "Front of House" role that will train on Phlebotomy skills. If the candidate is not willing to learn/perform Phlebotomy, do not submit them.
