Director of Commercial Loan Asset Management
Location: Illinois or Florida
We are seeking an experienced Director of Commercial Loan Asset Management to lead the strategic oversight and performance of a diverse commercial loan portfolio. This role will drive asset performance, risk management, and operational efficiency while maintaining strong relationships with clients, borrowers, and internal stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned commercial lending professional and team leader who can balance portfolio oversight, borrower engagement, and team development while ensuring compliance, portfolio health, and long-term growth.
Anticipated Salary: $160,000 – $220,000 (DOE)

Provide strategic oversight of a diverse portfolio of commercial loans, ensuring servicing obligations, covenant compliance, and performance expectations are met.
Monitor overall portfolio health, identifying emerging risks and implementing strategies to protect asset value.
Review borrower financials and operational performance to assess repayment capacity and credit risk.
Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial asset management team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Provide coaching, performance management, and technical guidance to strengthen team expertise.
Ensure operational consistency and best practices across asset management functions.
Serve as a primary relationship partner for borrowers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with servicing, credit, and operations teams to support seamless portfolio management.
Communicate portfolio performance and risk insights to executive leadership.
Proactively monitor underperforming and nonperforming credits, developing strategies to mitigate risk and preserve collateral value.
Lead borrower negotiations related to loan restructures, workouts, and foreclosure actions when necessary.
Coordinate with legal and internal teams to manage recovery strategies and asset resolution.
Develop and enhance asset management policies, procedures, and reporting frameworks to improve operational efficiency and transparency.
Evaluate technology tools and workflows to optimize portfolio management processes.
Deliver detailed portfolio analysis and reporting to senior leadership to support informed decision-making.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
15+ years of experience in commercial lending, loan servicing, asset management, or credit administration
Deep knowledge of commercial loan documentation, collateral management, and loan workout strategies
Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to evaluate borrower financial statements and credit performance
Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact with senior leadership and clients
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with commercial loan servicing or asset management platforms preferred
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, solve complex problems, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
