Overview
Based in Brandon, MB this position is responsible for overseeing the operations which includes training of staff, handling guest concerns, supporting administrative duties such as ordering, filling in at any stations as required, and ensuring the overall success of the food service operations.
Responsibilities- Work alongside the Chef to plan and develop menus and recipes for the café and catering events; assist in overseeing day-to-day operations and promote a positive team attitude with a passion for fresh scratch cooking.
- Put processes in place and monitor staff performance to ensure health and safety regulations and procedures are followed.
- Provide on-the-job training to staff and ensure they apply training insights on the job site.
- Ensure staff use techniques, tools, supplies, and equipment correctly (e.g., knives, ovens, cleaning materials).
- Ensure employees have proper personal protective equipment and that it is used correctly.
- Notify appropriate parties of malfunctioning or in-repair equipment.
- Ensure operation complies with Food Safe and/or Serve Safe standards, applicable legislation, and company policies.
- Communicate operational changes clearly to staff to enable effective implementation.
- Collaborate with the Chef to control costs by managing inventories, stock levels, and minimizing spoilage and waste.
- Maintain proper food rotation and control portioning to meet recipe yields, quantity, and budget expectations.
- Suggest dishes that leverage seasonal availability and provide budget recommendations to maximize profitability.
- Coordinate ordering of supplies with the Chef and manage cleanliness and sanitation across kitchen, storage, front and back of house areas.
- Schedule and coordinate staff shifts and assignments, considering business needs and staff capabilities.

Qualifications- Passionate and committed individual looking for growth.
- 3 years’ experience in the hospitality / food service industry.
- Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, GFS, Outlook).
- Knowledge of menu and labour costing.
- Effective leadership style, positive outgoing personality and effective listening skills.
