Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Director or designate in the Diagnostic Services portfolio, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of Shared Health, the Charge Radiology Technologist is responsible in assisting in the day-to-day planning, organization, directing and controlling of the departments in an efficient and effective manner. Functions as an independent self-directed professional in the delivery of direct patient care.

Maintains a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines and ensures compliance with quality assurance program.

Experience
  • A minimum of three years  experience as a General Duty Radiology Technologist.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Imaging Technology.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist certification exam (CAMRT).
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must be in good standing with CAMRT-MB and CAMRT.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements in accordance to Employer policy.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Completion of a formal management training program or health care administration course is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of office applications in a Windows environment with experience working with Microsoft Office programs preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong organization and prioritizing skills.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships in a multi-disciplinary team and with external agencies, groups and the public.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical health to meet the requirements of the position including standing or walking for extended periods of time without resting.
  • Must demonstrate the use of safe and effective body mechanics while working with clients.
  • Must be able to safely transfer large and/or heavy clients who may have limited or no weight bearing capabilities.
  • Must be able to lift and position clients, some of whom are in a state of unconsciousness.
  • May be exposed to radiation (within acceptable limits).
  • May be required to occasionally work extended hours.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
  • Must be able to push/pull portable equipment in a safe manner.
  • May be required to work with provincial safety and health officer or other employees in the continuous development of safe work practices/place.
  • Regular travel throughout the service area may be required as well as a valid Manitoba’s driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle.
