Environmental Services Aide (Housekeeping Aide / Laundry Aide)
The Environmental Services Aide (Housekeeping Aide / Laundry Aide) role at Prairie Mountain Health provides essential support for laundry and housekeeping services across our facilities.
Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Manager or Supervisor, the aide performs laundry and housekeeping duties, following established standards, procedures, and infection control guidelines, and prioritizes tasks within time frames to enhance patient and workplace safety.
Responsibilities- Assist in training and orientation of environmental services staff and students.
- Follow departmental procedures to ensure consistency and quality of service.
- Clean assigned areas per current schedules and infection control guidelines.
- Prioritize and complete extra cleaning duties within established time frames.
- Conduct daily tours and inspections of areas for cleanliness.
- Ensure all equipment is clean and operating efficiently.
- Perform washing, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, polishing, and dusting using appropriate equipment and products.
- Clean bed frames and mattresses as scheduled and required.
- Collect waste and wash waste receptacles.
- Clean and maintain housekeeping carts, including restocking.
- Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and transport linen and clothing.
- Process laundry and linen per established standards and infection control guidelines.
- Make minor repairs to laundry and linen as required.
- Distribute laundry and linen as appropriate.
- Restock supplies in all areas as assigned and required.
- Assist with inventory procedures.
- Participate in department quality control audits and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Grade 9 education (MB Standards) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated dexterity and efficient work methods.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Problem solving and decision making skills.
- Flexibility to adapt techniques and procedures in a changing environment.
- Knowledge and competence in skills and concepts related to the position.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Respect for confidentiality.
- Ability to perform duties on a regular basis.
