Job Description:The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Public Works & Operations, the Public Works Foreman is responsible, in
this out-of-scope position, for the supervision and coordination of the City’s Public Works operations,
including construction, maintenance, and repair of municipal infrastructure, equipment, and facilities.
The position provides leadership to staff, ensures compliance with safety standards, and supports the
planning and execution of capital and maintenance programs.
The Ideal Candidate
The City of Dauphin invites applications from qualified and motivated individuals possessing the following education, experience, and attributes:
- Diploma in Municipal, Civil, or Environmental Engineering Technology (or related discipline).
- Equivalent education and extensive experience in municipal public works operations may be considered in lieu of said education.
- Certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or eligibility for certification is an asset.
- Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in municipal public works, construction, or related field.
- Valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License (Class 3 with Air Endorsement an asset).
- Knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems, including roads, drainage, water distribution, and wastewater collection.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise staff in a unionized environment.
- Sound understanding of workplace safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with computer applications related to maintenance, record-keeping, and reporting.
The Compensation
This is a full-time, permanent, out-of-scope position with salary commensurate with education and experience. Applicants are requested to include salary expectations in your cover letter.
