Senior Micro Focus COBOL Developer
Responsibilities:
Developing, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise applications using Micro Focus COBOLDesigning, coding, testing, and debugging COBOL programs based on business requirementsWorking extensively with ISAM file systems for data storage, retrieval, and optimizationAnalyzing existing systems and proposing performance improvements and modernization strategiesTroubleshooting application issues and providing timely resolution in production and non-production environmentsCollaborating with cross-functional teams including Business Analysts, QA, and Infrastructure teamsParticipating in code reviews and ensuring adherence to development standards and best practicesCreating and maintaining technical documentation for programs, enhancements, and processesSupporting system integration efforts and interfacing with external systemsWorking in Agile/Scrum environments based on project needsProviding knowledge transfer and mentoring junior developers when requiredRequirements for This Role Include
8+ years of hands-on experience in Micro Focus COBOL development8+ years of experience in Strong expertise in COBOL programming (procedural and structured programming concepts)8+ years of experience in Solid experience working in Unix/Linux environmentsStrong knowledge of ISAM file handling and data processingGood understanding of file-based systems5+ years of Experience in debugging, performance tuning, and production supportUnderstanding of system integration concepts and interfacing techniquesFamiliarity with version control tools and development lifecycle processesAdded advantage:
Working knowledge of C++Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teamsHigh sense of ownership, accountability, and commitment to qualityAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentCapability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersAbout NTT DATA
