Responsibilities
- Prepares and proofreads standard legal documents, such as pleadings, motions and discovery requests. Ensure legal documents are compliant with court rules and filed properly online.
- Prepares and assembles materials, documents, and exhibits for various court appearances, depositions and meetings.
- Assists attorneys in all aspects of pre-trial, trial, and appellate litigation, including overseeing discovery, including e-discovery, depositions, and preparation of exhibits.
- Receives and screens telephone calls responding to inquiries on a variety of matters such as case status and attorney scheduling.
- Manages incoming mail and outgoing mail and properly files in case file and scans to office document management files.
- Manages attorney’s calendars including scheduling appointments and adding new appearances as received in the attorney’s mail.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to gather information and answer questions.
- Address client inquiries in a timely and effective manner.
- Organize and maintain case files, including physical and electronic files.
- Assist with other tasks and projects as requested or needed.
- 3+ years of legal assistant or paralegal experience in litigation
- Ability to organize and multi-task
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
Proficient with E-filing. - Excellent workload management skills, including being well-organized, diligent at follow-up, independent follow-through, and able to effectively manage multiple assignments and attorneys simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional attitude, reliability and strong work ethic.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team environment, including the ability to work collaboratively with other attorneys and staff.
