- Department Details: 6am-1:15pm, 38.75 hours per 2/week pay period to include every other weekend and holiday. Additional weekend incentive of $1.25/hour.

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long‑term care. Provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance to an assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The NA delivers age‑appropriate care related to the resident’s physical and psychological needs as per the care plan, follows infection prevention and control policies, and uses personal protective equipment.
Daily tasks include changing, bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, recording vital signs, providing psychosocial support, transferring, repositioning, walking assistance, range‑of‑motion exercises, food preparation and dining assistance, housekeeping, laundry, and participation in wellness and recreational programs. The NA may also assist with nursing procedures, document resident interactions, communicate changes in condition to the charge nurse, collect non‑invasive body fluid specimens, and participate in departmental committees.
- High school graduate or GED (preferred, not required).
- Minimum age of 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required; must be obtained or be enrolled in a training program within four months of starting position. Facility will provide training and certification.
- Completes yearly competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
- Maintains all department‑specific required certifications.
- State registration on the Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Registry, when applicable.
- May be classified as a Sanford Category II Driver; requires a motor vehicle report and valid driver’s license, and must be medically qualified to perform driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy.
