Assignment: School Year - Ongoing
Hours: 8 per day, Monday through Friday - Year Round - 12 Months
Salary Range: $ 95,739.00 - $ (Based on education and experience; wages outlined in the District Leadership Compensation & Benefits Handbook located on district website)

FLSA: Overtime Exempt

WHO WE ARE
Brainerd Public Schools serves over 5,600 students per year across 516 square miles, including Cass, Crow Wing, and Morrison Counties. Brainerd Public Schools has six elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and three alternative programming sites.
JOB GOAL/SUMMARY
Brainerd Public Schools is seeking a full-time Humanities/Literacy Coordinator with knowledge of the evidence-based practices for curriculum design and literacy instruction, with a proven track record of teaching students to read and write.
The purpose of the position is to build the capacity of teachers and district leaders to implement evidence-based instruction, improve student academic achievement, and create systems of support where all learners thrive.
The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to build reciprocal relationships with individuals and to foster collaboration with school staff. They will be an advocate for more equitable outcomes for all students, with attention to the literacy outcomes of traditionally marginalized student populations with previously predictable academic outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Master's Degree in Education
- Current Minnesota licensure
- Current Administrator license or willingness to receive
- K-12 Reading Endorsement, preferred
- Director level or administrator experience preferred
- CERI certification or eligible for certification
- Evidence of advanced training in literacy instruction
Professional development
- The District Humanities/Literacy Coordinator will facilitate professional development group activities for teachers in the school as directed in collaboration with other instructional leaders (including principals) to create a comprehensive system of instruction for literacy, social studies, and world languages. The Humanities/Literacy Coordinator works one-on-one and in small groups with teachers and leaders, providing guidance, training, and other resources as needed on a daily or weekly basis for the implementation of grade-level, content area, or program development supported by evidence-based practices.
- The Humanities/Literacy Coordinator works collaboratively with administrators and educational leaders to address literacy or humanities-specific academic issues teachers face daily in their classrooms and programs. This includes supporting the work of aligning instruction to state academic standards, reviewing data, implementing evidence-based practices, and developing assessments. The Humanities/Literacy Coordinator will be part of the district MTSS Leadership Team and participate in decisions on curriculum adoptions, intervention planning, and data analysis, especially to ensure that historically underserved students in core instruction meet or exceed grade level expectations.
- Provide comprehensive leadership for implementing evidence-based practices consistent with our local literacy plan and the requirements of the MN READ Act.
- Collaborate with all designated partners at the district, site, and classroom level on instructional practices, implementation of literacy plan requirements, alignment of practices to the Academic Standards for English Language Arts, Social Studies, and world languages, data analysis, and other related practices.
