Bank Maintenance Operative

Role Overview

We are looking for a Bank Skilled Maintenance Operative/Assistant to support Cygnet Hospital Bierley, a specialist mental health facility. You will provide maintenance and repair services to support a safe, healthy environment for staff and service users. The role involves bank shifts with flexibility and occasional on‑call work.

• Carry out comprehensive maintenance & repair services – basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work.
• Maintain plant, services & vehicles to working order.
• Comply with safe working practices and report faulty equipment & potential hazards.
• Travel to other sites and, on occasion, be on call for emergency repairs outside normal hours.
• Check fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights.

• Experience in a similar maintenance role or recent self‑employed experience in the sector.
• Skilled at DIY & general maintenance – experience with repairing various equipment, painting, decorating, plumbing, carpentry, and basic wiring.
• Good working knowledge of health & safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Full valid driving licence and willingness to travel.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels and ability to record detailed, accurate maintenance information.
• Friendly, conscientious, positive attitude – an excellent team member.

• £12.52 per hour plus 12.1% annual leave allowance.
