Job Title

Business Development Manager (New Business and Key Accounts)

Role Purpose

You grow revenue through a mix of new business development and structured management of existing accounts. You build pipeline, win new customers, and protect and expand current customers through retention, cross-sell, upsell, and service levels.

Split of Focus (typical)
  • 50% new business: prospecting, winning new accounts, new applications, new routes to market
  • 50% existing accounts: account plans, expansion, pricing reviews, relationship management
Key Responsibilities New Business Development
  • Identify, target, and win new customers across OEMs, bodybuilders, fleet operators, and specialist vehicle manufacturers.
  • Build and execute outreach plans (calls, email, Linked In, events, partner referrals).
  • Qualify opportunities and progress them through trials, approval, and order conversion.
  • Build a healthy pipeline and deliver against quarterly and annual targets.
Key Account Management (Existing Customers)
  • Own a defined portfolio of existing customers, delivering retention and account growth targets.
  • Run regular account reviews, maintain senior stakeholder relationships, and keep risks and actions visible.
  • Identify and close cross-sell and upsell opportunities across mirrors, CMS, and visibility products.
  • Manage day-to-day commercial and operational issues (quotes, pricing reviews, delivery/quality escalations) by coordinating internal teams.
Technical and Solution Selling
  • Translate customer needs into suitable solutions and recommendations.
  • Support trials, installations, and feedback loops with Product and Engineering teams.
  • Communicate compliance positioning and product suitability for harsh environments clearly.
Forecasting and CRM
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline stages, and account notes.
  • Forecast revenue (new and existing) and report weekly on progress, risks, and next actions.
Market and Partner Development
  • Track competitor activity, pricing pressure, and customer trends, then feed insights back into the business.
  • Support distributors and resellers where relevant, including joint plans and lead management.
  • Represent Ashtree at industry events and customer demonstrations.
Success Measures (KPIs)
  • New revenue won and gross margin achieved.
  • Existing account retention and net revenue growth (including cross-sell and upsell).
  • Pipeline coverage and conversion rates.
Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in B2B sales combining new business and account management.
  • Track record of owning revenue targets and building pipeline from scratch.
  • Strong consultative selling and stakeholder management, including procurement and technical teams.
  • Commercial discipline: pricing, margin protection, and negotiation.
  • Organised, consistent CRM use and accurate forecasting.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • Experience in commercial vehicle, automotive, industrial equipment, safety products, mirrors, cameras/CMS, or related technical sectors.
  • Experience with OEM/bodybuilder/fleet environments and specification-led sales cycles.
  • Distributor or reseller channel management.

  • Works closely with:
    Product and Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Customer Service
Working Pattern and Travel
  • UK & EU hybrid role with regular customer visits, occasional overnight stays and occasional meetings in the Bradford, UK Office.
  • International travel will be required (mainly Europe).
