Quality Control Manager, Produce & Horticulture ensures the quality of fresh produce, horticulture, meat, fish, poultry, bakery and dairy products arriving at our depots meets our specifications. The role supports in driving a quality culture across logistics sites. This is a field-based role, with frequent travel across the UK. Applicants should hold a full driving licence.
Responsibilities- Managing a team of QC’s to ensure appropriate action is taken where non-conformities are found, providing timely and accurate feedback to key stakeholders that drives continuous quality improvement.
- Ensure Morrisons products meet the required specification.
- Support in ensuring all product withdrawals / recalls are responded to and communicated in a timely manner.
- Ensure the QC team provides timely communication of product issues, allowing the business to protect customers and availability.
- Attend relevant meetings (RDC, Central, Supplier) to cascade KPI’s.
- Identify and challenge practices and procedures within logistics that impact waste, availability and sales.
- Oversee delivery of internal and external training for QC and logistics teams.
- Champion quality culture — build and share knowledge of quality.
- Effective management of stakeholders across the business and supply base.
- Support technical projects/trials where required.
- Promote product safety at all times.
- The ability to effectively manage a team of people based across the UK.
- Experience of Quality Assurance work on fresh food.
- Resilient and able to stay calm under pressure, with the ability to challenge effectively.
- Knowledge of fresh produce/horticulture gained within the industry.
- A desire to develop knowledge, passion and understanding of other fresh food categories.
- Knowledge of end-to-end supply chain - farm, supplier, logistics and store.
- The ability to keep the customer at the forefront of all decisions.
- Excellent communication and numeracy skills.
- Team player, self-motivated, flexible approach.
- Full UK driving licence.
