We are a 16 bedded critical care unit with 8 level 3 beds and 8 level 2 beds. These beds are used flexibly between level 3 and level 2. We admit medical and surgical patients from across the Hospital Trust. We offer you an exciting opportunity to work within a dedicated and friendly team committed to high quality patient care.
We are looking to appoint a dynamic and skilled individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to work as clinical Shift leader, and to provide visible nursing leadership and an effective and high quality patient focused service.
Main duties of the job- Providing holistic care to level 2 and level 3 patients.
- Responsible for the training and supervision of junior staff and the leadership of the unit as a whole.
- To work as part of the multidisciplinary team fostering good inter-departmental relationships and helping to achieve high morale for patients and staff and continuous quality improvement.
- Clinically and professionally expected to make autonomous decisions on a daily basis including provision of advice to junior staff in clinical decision making.

Job responsibilitiesThe successful applicant will be responsible for the safe and smooth running of the critical care unit. This includes leadership, training, research and professional accountability.

The post holder is expected to undertake the critical care course if they have not already and this must be completed within the first 12 months.
Person Specification Experience- Minimum 2yrs at Band 5 or above in Critical Care or Acute Care
- Critical Care Standards Level 1 completed
- Working towards Level 2/3
- Management of a critical care area
- IV Skills
- Good verbal and written command of English,
- Time and Change Management
- Effective listening and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
- Evidence of self-development and clinical knowledge
- Good verbal and written command of English
- Evidence of involvement in Change Management
- RGN
- Mentorship/Preceptorship ENB 998 or 6590(SLIPS)
- Degree Level Courses applicable to specialist area or evidence of working towards. This must be completed within 12months of appointment
