** The Role
** We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused
** Day Lead Operator
** to operate and maintain our Energy & Effluent utility plants efficiently and safely. This is a hands-on role at the heart of operations, ensuring compliance with all EHS and COMAH requirements while supporting plant performance and continuous improvement.
** Key Responsibilities
*** Operate and maintain utility plants, including CHP, in line with procedures and safety regulations
* Issue General, Hotwork and notification permits, and complete waste documentation and spreadsheets
* Participate fully in the Permit to Work (PTW) system, including risk assessment, isolations, and safety checks
* Communicate effectively with your team, shift managers, and incoming shifts; maintain accurate handovers, logs, and SAP records
* Support plant troubleshooting, process operations, and departmental performance improvements
* Maintain high housekeeping standards through
** 5S practices**, contributing ideas for improvement
* Ensure compliance with COMAH critical procedures and report any discrepancies promptly
** About You
*** City & Guilds / ONC qualified, preferably HNC in an engineering discipline
* Experience working in utilities, CHP, waste incineration, or chemical plants
* Strong safety awareness and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
