Apprentice Support Worker – Cygnet Hospital BierleyWe are looking for an Apprentice Support Worker with a drive to support and improve the lives of vulnerable adults in our care.
You’ll work and learn in a 15‑month apprenticeship, earning a Level 2 care worker qualification, a Diploma in Health and Social Care, and the Care Certificate. You’ll work three 12‑hour shifts per week, with a learning day every second week, totaling 42 hours per week.
Cygnet Hospital Bierley provides a range of acute and low‑secure mental health services for men and women, across four wards offering single‑sex specialist mental health services. All services are delivered through a recovery‑orientated approach and reviewed via the CPA framework. Our commitment is to deliver trauma‑informed care.
Responsibilities- Offer enhanced care and support with a flexible, person‑centred approach for all people in our care.
- Provide guidance & encouragement through physical & emotional support.
- Learn about individuals’ specific needs & provide help in the most appropriate way.
- Assist with and report on any medical & welfare needs.
- Ensure that the people in our care are kept safe from abuse, neglect and harm.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment for all.

- Earn as you learn, starting at £8.60 for your first year, rising to NMW for your age at month 12 (£10‑£12.21), with the opportunity to become a support worker once you have completed your 15‑month fixed‑term apprenticeship (£12.85 per hour, £28,280 per year).
