Location & Work Type
  • Initially based in Bradford; office moving to Leeds Valley Park in Summer 2026 (hybrid working, minimum 1 day per week in office).
  • Permanent role, 37 hours per week, Monday‑Friday.
Responsibilities
  • Provide process engineering support from project definition to detailed design and commissioning by attending key meetings, design meetings, value engineering meetings, Hazop meetings, and site visits.
  • Support the project team with the selection and development of best‑value solutions that are safe and reliable, meet treatment objectives, and provide robust challenge where appropriate.
  • Assure the outline design prepared by the strategic planning partner and the tender and detailed design prepared by the capital delivery partner by reviewing key process documents (P&IDs, mass balance, process sizing calculations, hydraulic profile, 3D model, control philosophy) before formal gateways.
  • Act as a conduit for the Engineering Design Team, involving other disciplines as required.
  • Manage and update Yorkshire Water's Design Guidance documents, consulting key stakeholders and incorporating best practice from existing sites and new schemes.
  • Support the development of standard designs with the Engineering Design Team and supply chain.
  • Retrieve and analyse process data to support the design process.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in chemical engineering, chemistry or related water treatment discipline.
  • Expert knowledge of water treatment processes.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical role in water treatment.
  • Experience of process engineering design in the water industry.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex technical concepts to a wide business audience and influence people.
  • Experience of working on multiple tasks to project deadlines.
  • Full valid driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
Additional Benefits
