We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team, delivering exceptional customer service and innovative operational solutions across Yorkshire. Aboutthe Role
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor in our Commercial department. Your role will be to support Commercial best practice to maximise value and minimise risk and cost for both Lanes Group Ltd and our customers. This includes accurately valuing works undertaken, ensuring change control processes are managed effectively, and managing client relationships at contract level.

Salary:
Up to £50,000
- Review commercial processes to ensure they stay relevant and recommend necessary changes.
- Use contractual knowledge to communicate with relevant parties and ensure understanding of project/contract terms.
- Work efficiently and calmly to tight deadlines or other stress factors as they arise.
- Ensure maximum recovery of all contractual entitlements.
- Use performance data to identify opportunities and implement commercial processes to realise contractual entitlements and opportunities.
- Support the operational team in daily commercial and contractual aspects.
- Ensure proper contractual administration of assigned contracts/projects, including value and cost control and maintenance of contemporaneous records.
- Accurately value works undertaken and provide records to substantiate cost for prompt issue of applications for payment/invoice in line with contractual timescales.
- Manage the change control process effectively, including production of early warnings/variations, maximising entitlement.
- Prepare financial statements for assigned projects/contracts, working with operational teams to confirm financial position and instill commercial awareness throughout the business.
- Support development of individuals within the commercial team.
- Accept additional duties as situations arise.
- Manage subcontract accounts.
- Able to travel and spend occasional nights away.
- HNC in Quantity Surveying or similar.
- Undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying or similar (advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in utilities or civil engineering industry desirable.
- Experience in a QS role.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Strong knowledge of contracts.
- Strong desire to maintain client relationships while protecting contractual entitlement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
