Company Description
Water Utility Company based in Yorkshire region of England.
LocationButtershaw, Bradford (hybrid working – 2 days a week in office). Full UK driving licence required.
RoleMechanical Engineer (Inspector) – Asset Management Team. Permanent. 37 hours per week Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities- Provide technical inspection services for assets, ensuring alignment with Design and Yorkshire Water Engineering Specification and statutory documents.
- Produce and promote an Outstanding Work List for Site Activities.
- Verify Human Factor Engineering (HFE) requirements (accessibility of valves, field run piping).
- Ensure contract partners maintain a robust ‘as-built’ drawing process for all assets.
- Feed design and maintenance feedback to the design team.
- Review supplier and contractor quality records.
- Contribute to Yorkshire Water’s DfMA strategy.
- Coach and mentor team members to transfer specialist knowledge.
- Attend meetings with engineering, programme delivery and partners to align goals and priorities.
- Support the wider engineering function in developing and implementing best practices.
- Liaise with suppliers, technical planning and procurement on workmanship, quality and specifications.
- Drive health and safety, risk management and work control standards, ensuring compliance with the YW Safety Policy.
- Technically based qualification or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in construction and installation of assets in regulated environments.
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations and internal Business Control of Work policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts.
- Experience liaising with external contractors and supply chain.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrates Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
- Current full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel across Yorkshire.
- Asset management experience within a large-scale engineering or process–related industry.
- Previous experience in water or wastewater, or broader utilities, process or manufacturing sectors.
- Competitive salary £48,250 – £60,313 (depending on experience).
