Job Overview: The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment services to children, adults, and families experiencing mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. The PMHNP delivers high-quality, culturally competent carein accordance with professional standards, agency policies, and applicable state and federal regulation.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services, including medication management and ongoing monitoring of client response to treatment.
- Prescribe psychiatric medications, including controlled substances, and order, interpret, and review appropriate diagnostic and laboratory testsin accordance withscope of practice and regulation
- Deliver client and family education related to diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and recovery supports, and make appropriate referralsasindicated.
- Complete clinical documentation andrequiredmedical and insurance-related forms (e.g., disability, Social Security) accurately, legibly, andin a timely manner, in compliance with agency policies and payer requirements.
Education and Experience:
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner willmaintainan unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will maintain ingood standing, registration with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and be able to prescribe controlled substances without restriction.
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner willmaintainin good standing, and practice under the scope of a collaborative agreement with a psychiatrist
- Must have a specialty / experience working with children ages 5 – 10
