Surface Grind Operator

Responsibilities

• Performing the various skills of the Surface Grinding department.
• Set up and run the Abplanalp Surface Grinding machine.
• Read and follow the manufacturing router/shop traveler.
• Make and install new rails and change wheels when needed.
• Fill out a maintenance request when needed.
• Lift pans of parts with maximum weight of 35 lbs., from storage shelf and put them on a cart at their workstation.
• Move pans from one department to another as required.
• Write completed component quantities on the crewing guide.
• Use the Digital Data Base to find/review engineering specifications, quality documents, and SDS (Safety Data Sheet) information.
• Measure components using micrometers and profilometers.
• Clean the work area daily at the end of the shift.
• Maintain adherence to safety initiatives while working in the respective area in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Follow all quality control plans and fill out quality control forms to process acceptable parts.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area during and upon completion of jobs.
• Take instructions from supervisors.
• Assist Engineering/Quality departments as needed.

• Sitting:
  As required by operation.
• Standing:
  Able to stand for extended periods of times at machines.
• Moving:
  Normal, able to move throughout the department as required by operation.
• Lifting:
  Minimal, up to 35 pounds. Lifting of pans with various components.
• Pushing/Pulling:
  As required by operation.
• Visual Acuity:
  Normal and/or corrected vision for inspection of work/components.
• Hand Action:
  Able to pick up handfuls of parts and put them on conveyor belt for machines.

Safety equipment required - Safety glasses and hearing protection.
