Work You Will DoEquipment Operator – District One / District Construction / Manatee Operations Center. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining our roadways. The incumbent will operate small to medium equipment and vehicles, use a variety of hand tools, repair/replace signs and trim trees. This position will perform Temporary Traffic Control in work zones and road closures.

Annual Salary Range$38,581.03 - $49,928.39
Your Specific ResponsibilitiesPerforms minor maintenance and servicing work in connection with any type of equipment operated and assists in the repairs of this equipment; checks and adds fluids, checks/adjusts brakes, maintains proper air pressure in all tires, etc. Cleans and washes equipment. After obtaining the required Instructional CDL permit or license, operates vehicles and a variety of small and medium equipment that may include, but not limited to;
dump truck, front end loader, skid steer loader, grader, lift equipment, small bulldozer and asphalt repair truck while performing bridge and roadway maintenance.
Uses a variety of hand, pneumatic, and electric tools to maintain bridges and roadways. Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments with minimal supervision.
Performs tree trimming, rough carpentry, masonry, painting and/or assists in the assembly and erection of highway signs.
Performs Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic). Assists with crew activity reports as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of: Mathematical calculations; standard safety rules and procedures.
Skills in: Operating a variety of hand and power tools; operating and performing minor maintenance on small/medium equipment and vehicles.
Ability to: Operate heavy equipment; read and understand job‑related materials and fill out reports and forms; maintain and repair highways, bridges and other highway structures; communicate verbally and in writing; develop and maintain effective working relationships with others; lift, carry, handle up to 50 pounds; stoop, climb, squat, push, pull, crawl or bend frequently; work outdoors in various weather conditions and…
