Job DescriptionThe overall functions of this position are to prepare and serve regular and special diets to patients and employees under the supervision of the Director of Dietary Services. The cook must maintain a clean environment, be flexible with hours, and demonstrate patience and tolerance toward staff, patients, and patient families.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Maintain high standards of food handling and cleanliness.
- Use cook, chill or conventional cooking methods to prepare quality foods in sufficient quantities.
- Adhere to standardization of recipes and portion control to prevent food waste and control cost.

Qualifications- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Serv Safe Certification or Equivalent preferred.
- One (1) year experience in a food services in a health care facility preferred.
- Requires basic education to understand and follow standard practice or written instructions.
- Ability to work a variable schedule including some weekends.
- Good physical health and mental attitude; stands and walks most of the day, handles and manipulates equipment, stoops and reaches, lifts and carries food and kitchen equipment, tastes and smells food to determine quality.
- Familiar with inventorying, cooking by recipes, quantity cooking and following written procedures.
- Food handling and sanitation.
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment usage.
