AboutThe Role
We are seeking an experienced baker with at least one year of previous experience in a bakery. The Baker / Pastry Chef is responsible for preparing high‑quality baked goods and desserts that meet the nutritional needs, dietary requirements, and preferences of senior residents. This role supports a warm, hospitality‑focused dining experience while adhering to food safety standards, health regulations, and senior‑living best practices.

- Prepare fresh breads, rolls, pastries, cakes, cookies, pies, and desserts daily
- Execute recipes consistently while maintaining high standards of quality, flavor, and presentation
- Prepare baked items for regular meals, special events, holidays, and resident celebrations
- Modify recipes as needed for special diets (e.g., diabetic‑friendly, low‑sodium, gluten‑free, texture‑modified, pureed)
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team on menus and seasonal offerings
- Participate in menu tastings and resident feedback sessions
- Assist with special‑theme meals and community events
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control guidelines (Serv Safe, local health codes)
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, rotation, and temperature control of all baked goods
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory of baking ingredients and supplies
- Minimize food waste through proper planning and portion control
- Demonstrate a resident‑first approach with patience, respect, and professionalism
- Occasionally interact with residents during special events or demonstrations
- Support the community’s mission of enhancing quality of life through dining
- Attends in‑service training and education sessions, as assigned
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
- High school graduate required.
- Pastry Arts diploma or equivalent education preferred, but not required.
- Minimum 1‑3 Years’ Experience In a Bakery Setting Required.
- Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with, and be tolerant of residents, patients, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, subordinates, and other outside contacts.
