Opportunity for a Mental Health Therapist to work Per Diem.
Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11‑17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home.
We are located in Manatee County. Southwest Florida offers a diverse mix of lifestyle options, from walkable downtowns to communities with art and culture, to equestrian ranches. Manatee County is an hour or two away from some of the state's large metropolitan areas, offering plenty of activities for professionals or growing families.
The Therapist is a key member of the Palm Shores Treatment Team who will be responsible for conducting therapeutic services for patients. The Therapist provides counseling sessions for families, individuals, and groups. Therapists are responsible for interviewing and developing the psychological history, assessing the therapeutic needs of the individual and family, developing appropriate treatment objectives and monthly treatment summaries. Therapists act as the patients' and families' primary contact during the patient's stay at the facility, as well as their advocate with the treatment team and coordinating their discharge.
Job Skills /Knowledge- Experienced Trauma‑Focused Therapy, Neurodivergent disorders, PTSD, mood disorders, bipolar.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to document assessments, treatment planning and interventions into a meaningful document. Must be able to communicate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, children, adolescents, adults, and patient families in a clear and concise manner.
- Knowledge of individual, group, and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication and role expectations within family systems.
- Knowledge of clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the overall treatment plan.
- Employees assigned to children and adolescents must have the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of child and adolescent needs, knowledge of growth and developmental stages and must possess an understanding of the range of treatment needed by this age group.

License/Certification
:
Current license from the State of Florida, such as LCSW, LMFT, LMHC or Registered Intern in the aforementioned fields preferred. One (1) year direct clinical experience specific to family, individual and group therapy with children and/or adolescents.
Required Education
:
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, mental health counseling.
Background
:
Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening and Pre‑employment Drug Test.
