Position: LEAD ADOLESCENT THERAPIST

Responsibilities

Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home.

Palm Shores is hiring for Lead Adolescent Therapist. Primary caseload will be adolescent females ages 11-17 and will provide three weekly group therapy sessions as well.

The Lead Adolescent Therapist is a key member of the Palm Shores Treatment Team who will be responsible for conducting therapeutic services for patients. The Therapist provides counseling sessions for families, individuals, and groups. Therapists are responsible for interviewing and developing the psychological history, assessing the therapeutic needs of the individual and family, developing appropriate treatment objectives and monthly treatment summaries.

Therapists act as the patients’ and families’ primary contact during the patient’s stay at the facility, as well as their advocate with the treatment team.

Job Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experienced Trauma-Focused Therapy, Neurodivergent disorders, PTSD, mood disorders, bipolar, and ODD/comorbidities.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in order to document assessments, treatment planning and interventions into a meaningful document. Must be able to communicate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, children, adolescents, adults, and patient families in a clear and concise manner.
  • Knowledge of individual, group, and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication and role expectations within family systems.
  • Knowledge of clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the overall treatment plan.
  • Employees assigned to children and adolescents must have the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of child and adolescent needs, knowledge of growth and developmental stages and must possess an understanding of the range of treatment needed by this age group.

Licenses

/ Certification

Current license from the State of Florida, such as LCSW, LMFT, LMHC or Registered Intern in the aforementioned fields preferred.

Experience

One (1) year direct clinical experience specific to family, individual and group therapy with children and/or adolescents. Will consider new grad with an internship as experience for this position.

Education

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, mental health counseling.

Background

Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening and Pre-employment Drug Test.
